Index was once a small and close-knit community, but the town located on the western side of Washington state has grown in recent years beyond anyone's expectations. It is the ideal place for those who work in Seattle but can't afford the city's high real estate prices, and for others the natural beauty attracts them to the town. And Index truly is a beautiful place - surrounded by thick evergreen trees, tall mountains and glistening rivers and lakes. While weather is typically rainy with overcast skies even this does nothing to take away from the beauty of the town, and it is only highlighted further when the heavy snow graces the town and caps the mountains in winter. To many, Index would seem like a paradise. And yet lurking beneath this visual beauty there is more to this town than anyone might ever imagine...

Current Time in Index, Washington:
PLAYBYS: Sims from the games Sims 2, 3 and 4 are used to visually represent player’s original characters (no characters from within the franchise are allowed). But, you do not need these games to join and roleplay! If you wish, you can post a thread in our out of character / general forum and list as many physical details about your character as you wish. The members of Index will happily try and make a character for you, and you can choose which one you feel best fits your vision.

AVATARS: Avatars should display your characters face clearly and should be at least 200 pixels tall, and 200 pixels wide.

THREADING & POSTING: When threading with multiple characters, it is important that you post only when it is your turn. This can be acheived by taking note of who has posted before you, and remember you are to always post after them. If you were the thread starter, then it is your turn after the final person has joined your thread.

When creating a thread you are required to place a tag before the title. Here are a list of types of thread you can create and how to tag each one:

[Open] Anyone is welcome to join your thread, with no limit on the number of characters.
[Open - #] Anyone is welcome to join your thread, but there is a limit on the number of characters who can join. Replace the # with how many extra characters you will allow to join your thread.
[Private] Only specific characters can join your thread.
[Closed] This tag should be used for threads that only involve your character.

ACTIVITY: To keep threads moving, people are encouraged to post within three days when it is their turn. If you do not post within three days, and you have not asked people to wait for you, it is possible you will be skipped. Keep in mind this is just a suggestion. While we'd love for everyone to be active every day, we understand that real life and other hobbies are just as important, if not more. We want you to be active because you want to be, not because a rule is telling you to be.

MATURITY RATING: Public threads should all be PG. If roleplayers above the age of 18 wish to post content that could be could be considered graphic then it should be hidden from view using the [hide] [/hide] code, which will enable only those in the threads and administrators to view the content.

A huff of frustrated air was exhaled from my lungs, causing stray hairs to hover in the air. That didn’t make sense, none of it made sense. I tried my best not to think about it, but the thoughts always crept their way back into my head. I couldn’t deal, it was all too much. Casey told me countless stories about our mother, about how she could heal anything and I was supposed to believe some sickness took her out? It was bullshit, no one was dying from a common cold, especially a woman who could heal herself to a point where it was like she had never been sick a day in her life. “That’s not possible,” was all I could manage to say. I didn’t want to make myself upset over it, though a sliver or anger had already snuck up on me. My eyes flickered to the side to peer at him for a moment before I decided to answer his question. “No, I was raised through the system. I never knew I had a family that existed.” Let alone a mother who actually cared, yet kept herself in the shadows. It was much to explain and I had forgive my deceased mother a long time ago. My brows rose slightly as I listening to him speak, wondering where in the world that accent came from. Clearly, he as southern or something, but I wasn’t one-hundred percent sure since I’d never been anywhere South. “Nothing feels right about it,” I started. “And no. Neither of us have tried because Casey thinks I’m overreacting, but he’s blind to anything that doesn’t have a short skirt and giggle every five fucking minutes.” My words became angrier and angrier the more I spoke of Casey and his obliviousness. Apparently Casey had met a medium before, but from what he told me all he did was annoy her and try to get in her pants. I rolled my eyes at the thought.

The corners of my mouth twitched, the threat of a smile trying to make itself apparent. “It’s a little dangerous,” I said. I ignored the sarcasm, keeping myself leveled and somewhat calm. I nodded my head forward slightly, the corners of my mouth turning downward. He had a good point, but what else was there to do other than to sit and wait? I glanced up to see him smirk and for once it wasn’t one that made me want to slap him all my strength. I knew Joel couldn’t be all asshole, but it was hard to think otherwise when he was like that most of the time.

I wouldn’t be surprised if someone tried to do it like it happens on movies,” I said. “I don’t have much experience though so, I mean.” I paused, my lips turning askew for a moment. “All I know about exorcisms is what happens in movies. Have you ever done one?

Are you seriously criticizing me on my dress length?” I questioned as I began to push upwards and waiting for the little grate to pop from the elevators ceiling. “Don’t be such an old man.” I pushed up, using my fist to try and get the grate to budge. “Yea I almost-wait.” There was a loud popping noise and I shoved the hatch upwards and it clattered against the top of the ceiling. I began to pull myself upward, only getting so far before I needed Joel’s help. I looked upward, seeing the opening to the next level of the building. “We might be able to crawl to the top of the next room,” I noted. "If no one comes or we have to get out really quick and not die."

My eyebrows shot upwards and if I'd been any other being of lesser intelligence I might have set Ryan off balance in my surprise. Quote Begin You weren't raised by other mages?Quote End I asked. The thought of it alone made my head spin. Why would any supernatural creature give up a child into the hands of humans? Quote Begin Well, if y'wanted to try, I could help. Just because your brother doesn't want to try doesn't mean you can't.Quote End I looked upwards, not to view up Ryan's skirt but to try and make some semblance of eye contact during the sensitive conversation. The point I had made was the softer of any I'd been thinking of - for example, that it was entirely possible that Ryan's mom could have been a useless Mage and Ryan was simply remembering her childhood through rose-tinted glasses, or even any comments on her brother. He sounded as if he might be even worse than her.

I watched Ryan carefully, aiming to be ready for any unbalance or topple she might experience. One of my legs started aching and I shifted as much as possible without affecting her. Quote Begin I have summoned spirits... but I haven't personally performed an exorcism.Quote End I said, my tone slightly clipped as I wished the opposite were true. I didn't want her to think I was weak or inexperienced for not having participated in one, Quote Begin They are usually done in groups anyway, unless a medium or necromancer is so powerful they can do it on their own.Quote End That was at least, what I had heard. There were too many powerful mediums or necromancers around Index at the present.

Quote Begin It's nothing to do with being an old man.Quote End I snorted, affronted, Quote Begin I just don't see the point in dressing like that. Aren't clothes meant t'keep you warm? And it's hardly a practical item of clothing, is it? Especially in a place as cold as Index.Quote End I wasn't impressed that Ryan was trying to lessen her poor clothing choices by trying to blame my attitude towards it.

I broke off any argument when the grate came away and the hatch opened, instead helping to push Ryan through the hole. I waited patiently for her to recount her findings. Quote Begin Might?Quote End I repeated, unimpressed, Quote Begin Would we realistically be able to reach it or not?Quote End I let out a snort of amusement at 'not die'. Quote Begin Yes, it'd be real nice if we can avoid dying.Quote End I rolled my eyes, Quote Begin Can y'see any damage that might've caused it to stop up? Any shredded cables, that type'a thing? If it's not damaged we might be safer waitin' it out down here than tryna' climb about.Quote End And much more pleasant than having to stand with a clear shot of Ryan's lacey underwear above my face any longer.
